Nashville Humane Association Awards Velez For Outstanding Service NASHVILLE - Sonya Velez has been awarded the Julia Colton Animal Welfare Volunteer Award by the Nashville Humane Association in recognition of her outstanding volunteer contribution to animals through NashvillePetFinders.org, a web-based lost and found service for the greater Middle Tennessee area. One individual is honored annually with the Julia Colton Award, which is named for Colton, a long-time animal advocate and prior president of the Humane Association's volunteer organization. Along with the Colton family, the Nashville Humane Association presents the Julia Colton Award to a volunteer whose commitment to the welfare of animals mirrors the contributions of the outstanding volunteer for whom this award is named. NashvillePetFinders.org was developed to aid and assist those who have lost a pet, and those who have found a pet, by creating a system that matches lost pets with their owners as quickly and with as little stress and anxiety as possible. For more information, go to www.NashvillePetFinders.org or call 615-383-0887. Velez owns two Hairless Chinese Crested dogs, Zelda and Romeo. The Nashville Humane Association's award ceremonies were held on Thursday, February 20, 2003. |
